26 March - UNISON defending public services
The following message below has been sent from the UNISON President thanking everyone for their contribution to the success of the march on Saturday. As the Eastern Regional Secretary I want to add my thanks and appreciation to the UNISON activists and branches who have worked so hard to make the day the enormous success that it was. We have much more to do to convince this Government and many within the community that there is an alternative but we made our message loud and clear on Saturday as part of the 500,000 people telling the Government that they are wrong. I was very proud to be there with you all and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with you to defend and protect UNISON members in the region.
With very best wishes
Glyn Hawker Eastern Region Secretary
Dear Colleague I just wanted send a message of thanks to those staff, at regional and at head office and our lay activists who were involved in the run up to and there on the day at the TUC march and rally on Saturday. UNISON's organisers and stewards helped to ensure that the event went as smoothly as possible. Our lay members were out in force with their regions and branches opposing the government's attacks on public services. There was a fantastic turnout on the day with a high profile for UNISON. On the whole I think you will agree that the TUC march for an alternative was a massive success and that UNISON's lay activists and staff played a key role in helping to achieve this. Once again thank you for all your support.
Best wishes ANGELA LYNES PRESIDENT
